Kaghzi Lemon
Citrus aurantifolia · grafted
Grafted, not seed-grown. That matters: a grafted lemon fruits in two to three years. A seed-grown one takes five to seven, and often never fruits true.

How to keep it well
- Light
- Full sun, six hours or more. A terrace or an open balcony — this is not an indoor plant.
- Water
- Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. In peak summer a potted tree may need water daily.
- Feeding
- A citrus feed every six weeks from March to October. Yellowing leaves usually mean it is hungry, not thirsty.
- Fruits in
- Two to three years from grafting, because ours are grafted onto established rootstock.
- Grows to
- 1.5 to 2 metres in a pot. A 12 inch pot to start, larger in its third year.
- In Lahore
- Shelter it from frost in late December and January. Against a wall is usually enough.
The graft union is the swollen joint low on the stem. Never let shoots below it grow — they are rootstock, and they will take over.
